the mechanical descaling system, using centrifugal blast wheels, is described as the most efficient and economical technique of consistent surface treatment prior to the application of improved surface coatings developed for the structural fabricating industry it is shown how this approach provides the maximum production capability at the lowest cost and produces a more uniform surface finish than could previously be accomplished by manual blasting or other preparation methods. major factors are discussed that must be taken into consideration in the selection of a mechanical descaling system to achieve these desired results
