the technological pecularities and advantages of the resist method of alkaline crimping of cotton fabrics are discussed. the effect of the basic technological parameters of the process - concentration of the sodium hydroxide solution and amounts of the water-repellent and cross-linking agents included in the resist printing paste - on the quality and stability of the crimp effect is estimated. the influence of the fabric structure is also taken into account. an attempt is made to improve the crimp effect by the addition of butanol as a wetting agent to the padding liquor and glucose as an inhibitor of the destruction processes occurring in cellulose. practical recommendations based on the experimental results are also included.
