as wet pickup on cotton fabrics is reduced the extent of migration is also reduced. migration is due to liquid in the larger capillaries transferring to the smaller capillaries in the fabric matrix. when all the large capillaries are depleted of liquid, migration is reduced considerably. the subject of this paper is the determination of the critical wet pickup for cessation of lateral migration during drying.
