in the present study, the improved color strength obtained by the pds (pad-dry steam) technique using saturated steam could be attributed to the presence of an increased quantity of moisture on the fabric during the fixation operation. the presence of the small amount of urea used in the pds technique will help in better dissolution of the dye in the limited amount of moisture during the steaming operation. this could lead to greater diffusion of the dye inside the fiber substrate leading to higher color depth for samples dyed by this technique. 21 refs
