Research on dyeing polyester and woolen fabrics and their blends focused on the use of liposomes as dyeing assistants in exhaut dyeing with disperse dyes. Objectives included optimization of dyeing conditions, particularly the concentration of liposomes and dye and the temperature, by the use of simulations; evaluation of the liposome in its performance as a dye carrier; evaluation of the mechanism of action of the liposome at a range of temperatures; and evaluation of the liposome in its ability to protect wool fibers at high temperatures. A major processing advantage of liposome is its biodegradability. 17 refs.
