Vestowax P 930 -- Pigment Carrier for Dyeing PP Fibers.

Huls' Vestowax 930 polyolefin wax for formulating polypropylene (PP) fiber pigment preparations allows the manufacture of fine titer fibers of 2 dtex. Conventional polyethylene waxes show poor compatibility with PP. Conventional PP waxes disperse poorly and cause pigment agglomerations that lead to fiber tear and collect in spinnerets causing machine downtime. Vestowax 930 contains a balanced combination of more polar and less polar regions. The more polar regions improve interaction with the pigment and provide good wetting of the pigment surface. The less polar regions enhance the PP interaction and ensure compatibility with the plastic. The pigment particles distribute homogeneously in the PP with no tendency to agglomerate. Microscopic examination and the pressure filter test demonstrate the excellent pigment dispersion acheived with Vestowax 930. It also offers ultraviolet resistance and thermal stability at processing temperatures.
