Three main types of drive systems are distinguished in piece dyeing machines: winch drive only (scarcely found today), winch drive with 'jet' assistance, and 'jet' drive only (executed only as air jet). All these systems have their justification and their advantages and disadvantages in terms of textile and process technology. In recent months the further developed air drive without winch support has gained an important market share.
