Researchers used acrylate monomers and tricarboxylic acid to formulate nonformaldehyde based printing products. Pigment printing trials used formaldehyde-free Sunny Fix NF to replace melamine formaldehyde based fixing agents in printing cotton fabric. Samples printed with the Sunny Fix NF and conventional melamine formaldehyde showed comparable dry crocking fastness, wet crocking fastness, and washfastness. The sample printed using Sunny Fix showed no change in fabric hand and no yellowing in the tones of the prints when cured. 13 refs.
