Following an outline of the problems faced by the textile finishing industry due to the high effluent level and a review of conventional effluent treatment technologies, the development of some new methods is described. These include the use of modified biofilters and ozonisation, the re-use of concentrated residual liquors from chemical finishing, the re-use of liquors from discontinuous dyeing and the use of the membrane method.
