Chemical modification of cellulose for dyeing with disperse dyes

The author in this article has modified cotton fabric by treatment with chlorodiethylaminoethane hydrochloride with a view to introducing basic tertiary amino groups on the cellulose backbone. Such modified cotton has been found to be receptive to disperse dyes during dyeing, dyed fabrics show low light and wash fastness, and can be made use for imparting other desirable properties to cotton.
