This research surveys effects of wet and dry heat temperatures in sizing, scouring, pre-set and final set processes on the thermal shrinkage of the polyester fabrics. Used polyester filament for warp is 50D/24fil spark and 75D/72fil semi-dull for weft yarn. Plain fabrics were woven by shuttle weaving machine. Satin fabrics were woven by water jet loom. Sizing temperature was changed by 90'C, 125'C, 150'C, scouring temperature was treated by 90'C, 110'C and 120'C, pre-set was 180'C, 200'C and 220'C, and final-set was varied by 170'C, 180'C and 200'C. Thermal shrinkages of fabrics treated with various wet and dry heat temperatures were analyzed with temperature effect of each process. For surveying dye affinity of fabrics treated with various dry and wet heat temperatures, apparent concentration of dyestuff on the fabrics was measured by colour difference measurement. These apparent concentrations of dyestuff according to heat temperature in each process were analyzed. Thermal stress and crystallinity of these specimens were also measured for certifying the results of previous dyeability according to wet and dry heat temperatures in dyeing and finishing processes.
