Production efficiency in dyeing can be significantly increased when results achieved in the dye laboratory are accurately duplicated in industry. Critical parameters and machinery and equipment used in dyeing both in the laboratory and in industry are detailed for cotton and polyester blends. Samples for laboratory dyeing are frequently prepared from large batches that are stored until the laboratory dyeing is done. Because storage can affect moisture content, dyeing before and after storage can vary significantly. Samples can be treated to duplicate the effects of storage. Other critical parameters include pH, speed, pressure, and machine and equipment settings.
