Continuous pad-batch dyeing system result in good quality, high fixation rates, and low environmental pollution, and are simple to operate. Complex systems can be installed for a relatively low investment. A minimum 12-hour batching time is recommended for short-dwell pad-batch dyeing of cotton and cotton/poly woven fabrics, except for turquoise and shades that require a minimum 18-hour batching time. The short-dwell pad-bath liquor is mixed at a ratio of four parts dye to one part alkali just before entering the dye padder. Long-dwell pad-batch dyeing features a dyeing time of 24 hours, with turquoise shades requiring 36 hours; the stability of the dyestuff after mixing in the pad bath is critically important. 1 ref.
