Monoethanol amine, diethanol amine, and triethanol amine were used to treat wool prior to dyeing. The dyeability of wool with acid and reactive dyes was shown to increase with this pretreatment. No damage to the wool occurred at temperatures of up to 60 degrees Centigrade. The performance of monoethanol amine was superior to that of the other amines. Percent reflectance was measured for varying molar concentrations of the amines. 5 refs.
