Continuous or semicontinuous piece dyeing causes a color fault along the fabric piece. The fault is characterized by a progressive difference in color intensity. The fault results from higher dye pick-up at the start of the dyeing process after equilibrium is reached. This leads to the rejection of a certain initial length of the dyed fabric. When using the pad mangle dyeing process, a smaller volume vessel limits the fault.
