Experiments on color differences in recycled wastewater from pad-batch reactive dyeing involved dyeing a sample of 100 percent cotton fabric with C.I. Reactive Red 45, C.I. Reactive Black 8, C.I. Reactive Orange 3, and C.I. Reactive Yellow 3 at 10 grams per liter of dye, 10 grams per liter of sodium hydroxide, and 25 grams per liter of sodium chloride at 38 degrees centigrade. Four washing baths at 98 degrees centigrade and one washing bath at room temperature washed the dyes off the fabric samples. Wastewater from the first three washig baths were treated with hydrogen peroxide at 1 milliliter per liter and 3 milliliters per liter in the presence of ultraviolet radiation. The position of color in ANLAB space was used to evaluae color changes in comparison with a standard sample. Results demonstrated minor color changes, even after five recycling cycles. 8 refs.
