Computer-Aided Optimisation of Exhaust Dyeing Procedures.

Newly available mathematical formuase and other data for optimizing the exhaust dyeing process for various fibers and dyes have permitted the development of computer aided dyeing systems. The systems adjust dyeing formulations and procedures according to the properties of the dyes, substrates, dyeing units, and cost structures of the dyeing companies. Procedure optimization occurs automatically according to the mathematical formulae, which reduces costs and improves quality. Optimization improves reproducibility, reduces cycle times, and improves fastness properties and uniformity in critical shades while reducing the need for leveling agents. An overview of computer aided dyeing for yarn, beam, and jet dyeing of polyester, acrylic, nylon, and wool fibers is provided. 6 refs.
