ACRYLIC BLENDS GAINING IN POPULARITY.

Acrylic fibers in blends, particularly acrylic/wool blends, are becoming more popular. Acrylic/wool blends require dyes of different ionic character to ensure high quality of dyefastness. Migrating cationic dyes for the acrylic component are more dependable and permit shorter dyeing cycles. They also provide a wider spectrum of shades and outstanding fastness properties. The problems of dyeing black shades on acrylic/wool blends are discussed. A mill-proven recipe, which is quick and satisfies the fastness requirements, is presented. 20 refs
