Recent trends in dyes and optical brighteners include the use of granules and other forms to avoid dust, greater variety of shades, better exhaustion resulting in less pollution, and better solubility and stability to electrolytes. New disperse dyes have improved fastness to sublimation and thermomigration and can be applied by different processes. Fluorescent pigments result in Instrous prints that are resistant to solvents and compatible with resins and chlorine. Optical brighteners have better resistance to acid, bleach, and electrolytes. New dyes for cellulosic, wool, nylon, acetate, and polyester fibers are described.
