The introduction of microprocessor controls and monitoring systems has been a major development in wet processing machinery. Instant online production information enables plant managers to better plan and schedule machines and workers. Global competition has reduced profit margins and made right-first-time production essential. The high cost of labor has spurred the development of robotic systems. The influence of environmental factors on dyeing and finishing machinery is another significant development. Automation in the areas of pretreatment, dyeing ,color measurement and matching, dispensing systems, chemical finishing, and mechanical finishing is discussed.
