Recent developments in transfer printing using sublimable dispersed dyes are discussed. The process is used almost exclusively on polyester fabrics or polyester blends containing a minimum of 65 percent polyester. The technique is used in applications ranging from draperies and upholstery to apparel, shower curtains, and flags. Transfer calendar machines are less expensive than rotary screen printing machines. They are available in widths of up to 126 inches. Recent developments have made warp printing and the printing of such pile fabrics as polyester velvets and velours possible.
