About 25 percent of reactive dyes are applied by the pad-batch method because of its low costs, high end-product quality, and high productivity. Critical parameters, such as dye preparation, temperature, and fabric running speed, are listed. Most fabrics, except textured fabrics and cotton knit fabrics, can be dyed by the pad-batch method. Pad-batch dyeing includes slop-padding, dwelling, and aftertreatment. Various dyeing assistants can be added to the dye formula. Specifications of pad-batch ranges for woven fabrics and knit fabrics are detailed. The environmental safety of pad-batch dyeing is emphasized. 2 refs.
