Problems related to textiles, preparation, water, steam, machinery, and selection and application of dyes also cause dyeing defects. Human error occurs in decision making related to dye and dyeing process selection and application, laboratory tests, and operations during the dyeing process. An illustration of the most common dyeing defects uses exhaust dyeing of fabrics in rope form.
