Application of Magnetically Treated Water to Dyeing of Wool and Woollen Fabrics.

The physical properties of water passed through an electromagnetic or magnetic field can be controlled so that water can be prepared for a particular technological process. Researchers investigated the use of water treated with a magnetic field for dyeing woolen fabrics. Woolen fabrics dyed with magnetically treated water exhibited an increase in dye absorption under optimal conditions. Optimal parameters of the magnetic treatment included a magnetic field induced to 0.18 tesla and treatment time of 4-5 seconds. Laboratory tests of the dyed fabrics revealed improved washfastness at 40 degrees centigrade and wet rubfastness for both monochromatic and polychromatic dyeing. 10 refs.
