Direct dyes offer such advantages as bright colors, lightfastness, dyeing stability at 130 degrees centigrade, reduced dyeing times, and excellent dye penetration. Fixing agents ensure dye fixation to the functional groups of the fiber to prevent migration and develop fastness. Ciba offers three groups of nonformaldehyde fixing agents that can be marketed under the Ecotex or Ecolable labels. Tinofix FRD fixing agents improve wetfastness in dyed and printed fabrics manufactured by direct dyeing on cellulosic fabrics. Tinofix Eco is used for cellulosic fibers and their blends. It is ideal for the aftertreatment of dyed and printed fabrics. Solfix E improves wetfastness in the Solfix exhaust dyeing system. The cationic aqueous compound, based on a modified polyamine derivative, is an integral part of the Solfix dyeing system that uses selected Solophenyl dyes.
