Innovation in the Dyeing of PES/CEL Textiles

Innovative approaches to the dyeing of polyester/cellulosic fabrics, which hold a 70 percent market share among fabric blends, are presented. Most important is the quality of the pretreatment cycle, which includes removal of spinning and knitting residues and control of dimensional stability, residual moisture level, degree of whiteness, and pH. A variety of new processing agents can be used, such as acid dispensers, dispersing and sequestering agents, lubricants, and oxidizing agents. The dyeing of polyester/cellulosic blends is usually accomplished in one or two bath procedures, where the reactive dyes are based on monochlorotriazine or vinylsulfone. The New Select-Process, an improved dyeing procedure, combines all dyes and processing agents into one bath.
