The design and operation of jet dyeing machines are discussed. A Scholl COMPACT jet dyeing model is used to illustrate principles of machine design and such operational parameters as temperatures, pressures, power requirements, and liquor ratios. The fabric guiding system, jet nozzle construction, door closing, control systems, and fabric unloading systems are also described. The productivity and efficiency of the Scholl machine are illustrate by discussions of cost and daily production. Other jet dyeing designs, including rapid jet dyeing machines, fully flooded jet dyeing machines, soft flow jet dyeing machines, and low liquor ratio reel machines, are also discussed. 10 refs.
