An overview of automatic color kitchen dispensing and metering machinery shown at ITMA 1999 addresses developments in color kitchen system, dispensing units for dye preparation, and dosing systems for pretreatment and dyeing processes. Key advantages of automatic color kitchens include less residual paste and optimization of such processes as thickening agent manufacture, dye weighing, and chemical metering. Common features on the exhibited dispensing systems included the elimination of exhibited dispensing systems included the elimination of manual handling, fewer weighing errors, and integration into a central management system. Of special interest was Kuster's Rapid Batch dosing system for pad and short batch dyeing. Additional exhibits included machines from Tecno Rama, Orintex, Datacolor, Kusters, Gaston County, and DyStar.
