An experiment modified cotton/wool blended textiles with various fiber percentages with amino groups and cationic characteristics for dyeing (union dyeing) in one dyebath using one dye. Modifications were achieved via pretreatments with various compounds, such as biguanide salts, modified water soluble cationic polyamide polymers, and mixtures of oligomeric dimethyloldihydroxyethyleneurea with choline chloride (DMDHEU/CC). Poly(diethylene-triaminebiguanide) and poly(hexamethylenebiguanide) hydrochloride were effective for sorption on cellulose substrates. The bond of dye to biguanide was stronger than the bond of biguanide to cotton, whereas wool was relatively unaffected. DMDHEU/CC was more effective on cotton than on wool. Abstract.
