At ITMA 1999, manufacturers of open width continuous dyeing machines presented machine that provide longer, more uniform runs and higher quality shades. Manufacturers improved conventional pad dry and pad-steam processes and developed thermosol ranges and a superheated steam dryer to reduce processing time. Increased use of infrared predryers in continuous dyeing ranges reduces color migration and increases production speeds. Significant developments were demonstrated in color and chemical pads, hot flues, and steamers. Most companies showed machines that offered reduced productional costs, reduced effluent, increased productivity, increased automation, and improved safety features. Machines by Benninger, Morrison, Kusters, Mezzera, Brugman, Kleinewefers, and Babcock are discussed.
