Environmental awareness and interest in energy conservation motivate textile manufacturers to evaluate their processing machines and wet chemical processes. Pretreatment machines, such as Kusters' Flexnip system, prepare uniform dye-ready fabrics while reducing water, chemical, and energy costs by more than 20 percent. Brugman's wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry mercerizer features uniform impregnation with low energy consumption and minimal maintenance. Devrekha's Counter flow dyeing machine reduces the liquor ratio, increases fabric speed, and reduces fabric abrasion. Benninger's Econtrol process offers automated fabric feed, optimal drying conditions, and simple maintenance. 15 refs.
