Self-Tuning pH Control in Dyeing.

One of the most important parameters in the quality control of dyeing processes is pH. In dyeing, pH exhibits strong nonlinearity and time varying behavior, which complicates conventional quality control and necessitates a control system that adapts to changes in system parameters. A new approach to pH control during dyeing involves self tuning proportional integral derivative control. An estimated parameterized model automatically tunes the gains of this control system, updated by input and output sequences. Simulation results illustrate that the control system can change the pH values for a simplified dyeing process. This approach will probably achieve equivalent results in industrial dyeing due to its ability to self tune, robustness, and ease of operation. 12 refs.
