HIGH PRESSURE STEAMING OF CATIONIC DYEABLE POLYESTER--PRINTING WITH A CATIONIC DYE

To determine the effects of the HT/HP process on dye uptake and color yield, polyester fabrics were printed with cationic dye, dried at room temperature, and steamed by a high pressure, high temperature(HT/HP) method. The effects of additions, steaming temperatures, and time periods were determined. Optimum conditions of steaming were found to be a steaming temperature of 120 degrees Centigrade and a steaming time of 25 minutes. A polyethylene glycol addition improved the color yield, while the addition of 0.1 percent PEG-2000 allowed a reduction of steaming temperature and time to 115 degrees Centigrade at 20 minutes. The addition of Glauber's salt decreased color yield. 3 refs.
