The problem of tailing still exists in cold pad batch dyeing with reactive dyes. Large variations in the dye concentration of the pad liquor can occur due to preferential absorption of the dye. Not only can the dye concentration change, but also auxiliary products, such as sodium hydroxide or silicate, can be varied due to preferential absorption of water. Several solutions for theses problems are proposed. 7 refs.
