Automatic dispensing of dyes and chemicals was developed to eliminate human error, reduce health hazards, and save labor costs. A variety of companies produce automatic color kitchens to dispense liquid dyes using continuous and discontinuous processes. Some kitchens dispense liquid dyes while others are equipped to dispense solids as well. Dyers should be familiar with such information because not all dyes are available in liquid form, and some liquids have limitations, such as the risk of evaporation and their stability to cold. Dyeing systems in the future will be equipped with metering systems to improve production control and will link dispensing systems and color matching equipment.
