Saturated polyester resins were synthesized by polycondensation in the presence of styrene nitroxide. These resins were then reduced and diazotized. An aromatic alcohol, or amine, was reacted with the diazo compound with structurally dyed polyesters as a result. These resins are used in the production of colored polyurethane foams. The presence of styrene nitroxide is critical in modifying the physicomechanical properties of the resin for structural dyeing. 3 refs.
