The Alizee fabric dyeing machine is one of the few major technological developments from France's coloration industry in many years. The Alizee is a low liquor ratio machine that differs from other low liquor dyers because it uses blown air instead of water or mechanical transport to carry the fabric. Mathelin, one of the largest textile dyers in France, has purchased 10 of the dyers, which they claim will save them money and provide better quality. Jan-Francois Gibier of the Association of French Textile Printers discusses the French industry, the new International Color System, and dyers interests. Representatives of Mathelin and Tar discuss color matching systems, their plans for the Alizee, and other aspects of their businesses.
