In order to conserve water, methods of dyeing cellulosic fibers using a non-aqueous system are studied. The effect of ethanol on the sorption of direct dyes on the fibers was examined. At high percentages, ethanol increases the degree of the association of the dye. The sorption of the aggregated dye also increases. 25 refs.
