Carbamoylethylamine adducts were used to modity the dyeing properties of cotton processed using the coventional pad-cure-dry method. These adducts were applied as co-reactants with dimethylol dihydroxy ethylene urea to produce fabrics that had durable press properties and were dyeable with reactive, acid, and direct dyes. Nitrogen analysis of the fabrics showed that the adducts became part of the finish. Thses fabrics had a significantly higher affinity for dyes than those crosslinked by conventional processes. 19refs.
