ROBOTICS-- A CUSTOMIZED INSTALLATION

Though OBEM first robotized the tow dyeing process in 1983, only recently has the company found it necessary to robotize the horizontal package dyeing process. The main reason for OBEM's delay was the low labor requirements demanded by this process. This robotized system is comprised of the following sequence: a robotized spindle device and pressing station incorporating the RC/0/10 tilt loading device and a Logic Programmed Shuttle (LP Shuttle), which recieves the spindles from the stationary shuttle and takes them to the dyeing machine for loading. Following the dyeing of the packages, the LP Shuttle unloads the machine and feeds the packages to a stationary shuttle located near the hydro-extractor. Following hydro-extraction, the LP Shuttle remove the spindles and transfers them the OBEM Rapid Dryer model ERD/O.
