Methods of dyeing polyester blends are explained in conjunction with several ways of preventing common jet dyeing defects and controlling dyeing quality. Dyeing recipes for disperse/reactive combination dyeing, one-bath exhaust dyeing, and two-bath exhaust dyeing processes are given. The proper operation of jet dyeing machinery, prevention of rope marks, prevention of stains due to the splitting up of the antifoaming agents, defects due to improper balancing of the shade, defects due to oligomers, and proper finishing techniques are outlined. Finally, causes of uneven shrinkage, grease and oil stain removal, and bulk loss are discussed. 5 refs.
