Bleaching, washing, and rinsing consume 80 percent of the water, 90 percent of the energy, and 70 percent of the time used in the reactive dyeing of cellulosic substrates. Rinsing systems include drain and fill rinsing, overflow or flood rinsing, combined cooling and rinsing depends on the liquor ratio, rinsing liquor temperature, electrolyte concentration, draining time, rope cycle times, jet passes, and dye chemistry. Over flow rinsing removes surface scum resulting from poor water or chemicals, but is time consuming and uses a large quantity of water. combined cooling and rinsing efficiently cleans fabrics and reduces processing time and water consumption. Smart rinsing systems use ultra low liquor rations and fresh hot water to dilute the fabric contaminants, dyes, and processing chemicals that are removed in low level overflow weirs. An equation determines the solute final concentration at the end of a smart rinsing sequence.
