An overview of improvements in wet processing machinery focuses on yarn preparation; fabric inspection; such chemical processes as scouring, singeing, desizing, and bleaching; aftertreatments; and testing. Yarn sizing machines, yarn hank preparation machines, and yarn packaging machines ensure greater dyeing uniformity and environmentally friendly processing. Seed particle removal is a major challenge in scouring cotton fabrics. Action at the farm level is the most effective solution to this problem. Solvent processing includes such processes as scouring, bleaching, dyeing, and finishing. 5 refs.
