BASF Corporation created guidelines for dyeing Cargill Dow Polymer NatureWorks fibers to achieve high colorfastness using lower temperatures than those required for polyethylene terephthalate fiber manufacture. Polylactide polymer NatureWorks fibers have a lower refractive index and require lower dyeing temperatures than do conventional polyester fibers. The raw materials derive from renewable plant resources and combine the best performance attributes of natural and manmade fibers. They feature superior hand, wrinkle resistance, moisture management, resiliency, and comfort and can be melt processed. BASF's guidelines include use of its Dispersol and palanil dyes. Lower dyebath temperatures improve dyeing of blends with wool and elastane fibers.
