First superheated-steam dryer for continuous dyeing of woven fabrics

The Babco-Therm dryer, developed by Babcock, uses superheated steam as the drying medium. The constant high fabric temperature makes drying and fixing in a single operation possible. The separate dye fixing process required in the pad-dry thermofix process, for example, is eliminated, as is predrying in an infrared dryer. The total treatment time is between 20 and 30 seconds. Different reactive dyes can be used and no urea is needed for the fixing process.
