The application of feedforward profiles in the control of dyeing machinery

This study involves a method of feedforward control based on the use of preset exhaustion profiles. These profiles are linear, exponential, quadratic, and sigmuidal in shape. This has been achieved by monitoring the amounts of dye in the liquor through analysis of the light reflected by an optical cell attached to a pilot scale dyeing machine. The use of this system allows for a reduction in both time and energy as well as an overall reduction in the level of environmental pollution. The results based on experiments are reviewed and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and reliability.
