New method for the mineralization of organohalogen compounds (German)

A new, free radical wet oxidation process for the mineralization of organohalogen compounds in waste water is described. It is a carrier-assisted system, with the carrier being a solid polymer having a reducing action(preferably a textile substrate). The oxidizing agent, managaness(IV) is firmly attached to this carrier. The redox system formed in an acidic medium (the waste water has to be adjusted so that it is acidic) results in the formation of effective polyradicals. The process offers further technological possibilities and innovative, effective, simple, economical and not limited to textile effluent.
