The article presents an overview of pre-dyeing treatments for yarns and fabrics presented at ITMA 99. The treatments presented are singeing, mercerization, ammonia finishing, de-sizing, scouring and bleaching. No great innovations were noted in these fields, but small modifications aimed particularly at improving economic and ecological aspects. Another area of interest was the adaptation of machines for delicate fabrics.
