Emissions in the finishing of wool fabrics and polyester/wool fabrics(stentering) are studied using headspace capillary gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. The results indicate that the emission of volatile organic compounds is at a minimum in the finishing of pure wool. There are no changes in the chemical composition after high temperatures in stentering. Investigations also show that, following at a test series, the volatile organic compound content of the finished fabrics is negligible. With dyed, air-dired polyester/wool blends the concentrations arre considerably higher.
