Smart rinsing: A step change in reactive dye application technology

Recent improvements in the production efficiency of the dyeing industry have been realised through a more widespread adoption of controlled coloration principles that lead to right-first-time (RFT) performance and reductions in costly and wasteful re-processing. This article focuses on the development of the rinsing process, which often takes up a significant proportion of the wet processing cycle but is often left to subjective judgment. It discusses the objectives of the rinsing process and subsequently describes the types of cost saving processing methods that are available to the industry, including details of the popular 'Smart' rinsing systems and the mechanics of ultra low liquor ratio (ULLR) machines.
